TitleGranular technology for wastewater reclamation in agriculture
AbstractWater scarcity is a current issue in several areas of the world and agriculture represent the largest world consumer of high quality water (i.e. 70%). Wastewater reclamation for agriculture could be a feasible way to increase the availability of high quality water for other purposes. The authors are investigating a domestic wastewater reuse strategy in agriculture based on a granular system named Sequencing Batch Biofilter Granular Reactor combined with sand filtration. The system showed high efficiency in removing all the investigated parameters including physical and chemical pollutants, microbiological indicators of faecal contamination and antibiotic resistance genes.
