TitleMimachlamys varia: una risorsa da valorizzare per la diversificazione delle produzioni marine.
Abstract- In the present study, growth, gonadosomatic index, condition index and meat yield were monthly evaluated in the scallop Mimachlamys varia. Juveniles of 19.7±2.5 mm were reared from May 2014 to July 2015 in a pilot plant in the suspended cages in the Gulf of Taranto. Results showed maximum gonadosomatic index in the winter and early spring months. High values of condition index and meat yield were recorded along most part of the year. These results, together with the availability of seed and the growth rate, make of M. varia a good candidate to diversify the aquaculture production.
