AbstractIn the Mediterranean region, suspended sediment transport is the predominant process of material removal and sediment transport. The aim of this paper is to analyze the sediment dynamics and to compare different calculation methods in order to identify the most suitable for temporary rivers. At this purpose, continuous measurements of the flow and discrete values of sediment concentrations recorded from 2010 to 2011 have been used. Sampling was carried out with different frequencies as a function of the flow conditions. Several calculation methods were compared: Averaging Estimator Methods, Ratio Estimator Methods e Regression Estimator Methods. The suspended sediment load was estimated in the range of 141-1123 tkm-2yr-1. Applying a flow regime Stratification based on a flow exceeded frequency (f1<20%; 20%80%), the range of values was found in a restricted interval 298-595 tkm-2yr-1. Results show that the stratification approach is necessary methodology in load fluxes estimation in temporary rivers.

Scopo del lavoro e valutare il trasporto in sospensione in una sezione fluviale del torrente Celone Puglia e di comparare differenti metodologie di calcolo per individuare il metodo piu idoneo per i fiumi a carattere temporaneo. Sono state utilizzate misure in continuo delle portate e valori discreti di concentrazioni di sedimenti registrati nel periodo di un anno. I metodi di calcolo sviluppati e confrontati sono stati molteplici Averaging Estimator Methods, Ratio Estimator Methods e Regression Estimator Methods. Il carico di sedimenti in sospensione e stato stimato tra 141 tkm 2y 1t e 1123 tkm 2y 1, in funzione delle differenti formulazioni utilizzate. I risultati mostrano, inoltre, che suddividendo il set di dati in funzione del regime delle portate, con frequenza di superamento f1<20%; 20%80%, le stime dei carichi ricadono in un piu ristretto intervallo 298 tkm 2yr 1 e le 595 tkm 2yr 1 , dimostrando la validita del metodo per i fiumi non permanenti. 1 2 Published version TRASPORTO SOLIDO IN SOSPENSIONE IN UN TORRENTE MEDITERRANEO CELONE, PUGLIA .
