| Abstract | Alien seaweeds were investigated in the Campania Phlegrean lakes, within the framework of the Flagship Project RItMare Project. One species, Hypnea cornuta (Rhodophyta, Gigartinales) was found in the Fusaro Lake; three species were detected in the Miseno Lake: Caulerpa cylindracea (Chlorophyta, Bryopsidales), Codium fragile subsp. fragile (Chlorophyta, Bryopsidales) and Gigartina cf. pistillata (Rhodophyta, Gigartinales). Importation of aquaculture organisms seems the most likely hypothesis for their introduction |
