TitleAn approach to describing problems of artificial groundwater recharge by means of the Hantush model
AbstractAn experimental plant consisting of seven infiltration ponds with a total area of 3.8 ha has been set up in the vicinity of Milan (Northern Italy), for the purpose of testing feasibility of artificial groundwater recharge in an area depleted by intensive withdrawal. The field tests were performed by filling the ponds at a known flow-rate, at the same time measuring the level in the ponds and the rise of the water table. The experimental data, collected over several years of operation, have been compared with some mathematical formulations for the purpose of developing suitable computing procedures to be used as forecasting and management tools. The analytical model proposed by Hantush has been used.
