TitleModiolus barbatus sottoposto a differenti diete fitoplanctoniche monospecifiche.
AbstractThe aim of this work was to study the growth and biochemical composition of M. barbatus with monospecific cultures of Isochrysis galbana, Tetraselmis suecica, Dunaliella tertiolecta e Phaeodactylum tricornutum. The use of monospecific diets may be useful to obtain informations about the effects of a single monospecific diets on the growth and metabolism of animals.Mortality at the end of experiments was very low in all the treatments (1.6%). The results indicated that the growth response of M. barbatus fed with T. suecica was better than that fed with I. galbana and P. tricornutum. While the lowest rate of growth was observed in the animals fed with D. tertiolecta. Biochemical analysis showed that individuals fed with P. tricornutum and D. tertiolecta had a higher concentration of proteins and lipids than individuals fed with T. suecica and I. galbana. Difference wasn’t observed as regards the carbohydrate content. The data obtained using four phytoplanktonic diets showed that T. suecica and I. galbana were responsible of higher increase of growth. Biochemical analysis revealed a high protein and lipid concentrations in organisms fed with P. tricornutum and D. tertiolecta.
