TitleToxicity of two cyanobacterial strains on Mytilus galloprovincialis hemocytes
AbstractCyanobacteria may produce a wide range of currently unknown toxins. Within this frame, the toxicity of two cyanobacterial strains (Cyanobium sp. and Synechococcus sp.) was tested on mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis). Results evidenced that the two cyanobacteria did not affect the vitality of the individuals, but they exerted a toxic effect on the morphology and functionality of the mussels' hemocytes.
