The Venice lagoon could be consodered also as the flag for the many lagoons shll existing along the Medoterranean and other European seas they are subjected to many threads and today they need more attention, both from the polibcal and also from the soentifoc communlties. Whenever Venice s ocon could be used to attraCI attention on the generai tagoons problems and opportunohes, l woukl be happy of th1s ·use· of my nat1ve City. Moreover, in order to assess lhe problems stili affect1ng the Ventce lagoon given as sotved the city s flooding problem as the MOSE barriers wlll be bullt . a woder comprehension of the natura processes achng 1n lagoons is mandatory. Thenefore, the collectlon of information and the confrontation w1th s1m1lar environments 1s not only a good thing per se. enhanong the knowledge on the Nature, but is also useful for the purposes of Ven1ce safeguard1ng.
