Mostly expert in a wide range of advanced scientific instruments applied to laboratory scale experimental tests and pilot plants to perform research on ion exchange processes, thermal characterization of sludge and hazardous waste. Since 2018 engaged in the characterization of the sediments of the Mar Piccolo in the analysis of dioxins, PCBs and PBDEs, and oxidative degradation of organic pollutants with ozone.

Graduated in biology at the University of Milan with a PhD in Animal Biology. I carry out research in the field of river ecology, developing methods for assessing the ecological integrity of rivers. In detail, I study the relationships between habitats, aquatic invertebrates (river benthic taxa) and anthropogenic alterations, with reference to
Mediterranean environments (temporary rivers) and to water bodies with permanent and significant hydromorphological and habitat alterations.

I am active in the field of Integrated Management of Water Resources, Basin Planning and optimization of water use in agriculture. I take care of international relations especially in the EU, China, India. I am a member of the Governing Board of the Water4All partnership, “Past President” of EurAqua (the network of public water research institutes in 26 EU Member States), a member of the Advisory Boards of the Water JPI (President) and of the Facce JPI.

Graduated in “Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology” and with a PhD in “Chemical and Industrial Processes”, I carry out research in the bioremediation of environmental matrices contaminated by toxic organic compounds. In detail, I study the microbial biomarkers involved in the biodegradation processes of pollutants using biomolecular approaches, to characterize contaminated sites, contributing to their bio-recovery and to the implementation of sustainable remediation technologies.

Graduated in Biological Sciences and with a PhD in Environmental Sciences, I mainly deal with the ecology of freshwater zooplankton, the evolution and the structural and functional characterisation of zooplankton communities in relation to environmental modifications, the analysis of the resting stages of zooplanktonic organisms in lake sediments, in addition to ecotoxicology and the study of freshwater trophic networks by applying stable isotope analysis.

Graduated in Physics from the University of Milan, I obtained a PhD in Earth Sciences, carrying out part of the activity at the Ecole des Mines in Paris. In recent years I have focused my research on assessing the impacts of climate change on water resources and water supply systems, with specific reference to drought events.

Graduated in Biological Sciences and with a PhD in Fundamental Ecology. Senior Researcher and Member of the Board of Professors of the PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences and Technologies at the University of Salento. I deal with issues of ecology, microbiology and marine technologies related to bacterial biodiversity, microbial bioremediation, microbiological quality assessment, search for bioactive compounds from marine organisms.

Researcher at IRSA Bari since 2015. My work aims to develop strategies and technologies for sustainable wastewater management. In work as in life, I approach problems starting from what is around them, because I believe that this is the most effective, and sometimes the fastest, way to get to the point. I have a PhD in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (Politecnico in Milano) and a degree in Environmental Engineering Politecnico in Torino).

Pietro Volta

Graduated in Biological Sciences and with a PhD in Environmental Sciences. I study freshwater fish fauna with reference to characterization of fish communities in lakes and streams and management implications (fishing, conservation), effects of anthropogenic and climatic pressures on freshwater fish fauna and trophic networks, scientific and technical support for the management, conservation, and sustainable exploitation of fish resources in fresh water.
